Short Bio

Prof. Alberto Raposo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Informatics and a project manager at Instituto Tecgraf, where he works with Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Human-Computer Interaction applied primarily to the energy and petroleum industries, but also to areas such as entertainment and accessibility.

Biography

An Associate Professor at PUC-Rio, Dr. Alberto B. Raposo focuses in the area of Computer Graphics and Human-Computer Interaction. He applies these concepts to "serious games", that is, virtual reality programs with no entertainment purpose, but rather that aim at assisting professionals from various fields in their work. The development is done through the laboratory responsible for projects of the Tecgraf Institute for Technical
and Scientific Software Development at PUC-Rio. There, his research is applied through the creation of games for various sectors, from petroleum engineering to physiotherapy, and in some cases, via partnerships with large companies such as Petrobras. Professor Raposo attended the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), where he graduated in Electrical Engineering (1994) and also obtained both his Masters (1996) and PhD (2000) degrees.
