LabLua is the academic arm of the development of the Lua programming language. Its research targets all aspects of programming languages, from new languages and mechanisms to their implementation through compilers and interpreters. Several Lua features were born there, but LabLua is not all about Lua; for instance, the Céu programming language was born there, too.

Besides research, LabLua also offers training and consulting in programming languages in general, and in particular in Lua.

The laboratory is coordinated by prof. Roberto Ierusalimschy, Lua’s chief architect.
